Amid all the speculation about the future outlook and performance of Adsense, we can be certain about some of the predicted upgrades.

To start with, we would be looking at a new algorithm enabling Adsense to accurately target ads. This would come as no surprise provided the capabilities of the present algorithm for Google search. Such an upgrade would also increase the credibility and appeal of Adsense. The new algorithm would also force the publishers to use more accurate keywords. . Adsense might even allow the publishers to define keywords.

One of the more damaging problems of click fraud would also be addressed in the new and improved Adsense. Google has vowed to curb such activities by introducing measures which are not prune to tactics like hidden IP addresses.

Google will be catching up to competition, so to speak, by introducing more than just improvements same as other comparable sites. We might see an Adsense with ‘smart pricing’ as well as something called ‘domain blocking’.

One of the eagerly awaited features is the ability of the advertiser to select the position of the content in the display. This could also mean less banners being shown on an individual page.

There is some strong speculation that Google might introduce Adsense several other media types such as television and newspaper. While this seems a bit farfetched, it is certainly not impossible provided Google’s unorthodox fashion of conducting its business.

Google is also looking to allow advertisers to create Adwords ads in the content itself, online as well as offline. This would greatly enhance the exposure of the advertisers. This would be of particular interest to those trying to enter offline advertisement markets.

Another feature which the Adsense users might notice and fall in love with could be click tracking; knowing which links are generating the most clicks. This might prompt publishers to exploit the pricing system as revenue generation would become more transparent. We may be seeing Adsense-only sites quite soon.

Google is yet to say anything about the pricing strategy of Adsense. Alternatively Google might introduce a wizard or online help in order to provide improvements targeted at revenue maximization.

Google is also aiming at RSS feeds. RSS allows sending info without any user interaction. Provided the potential of RSS and the degree of interactivity provided by the internet, this might as well be the next big thing on web.

This is all of course speculation and we can still expect Google to surprise us in pure Google fashion.
